Eveline Verheijen MSc
Director Operations


Eveline Verheijen is leading our operations department and overseeing the project management and clinical monitoring staff. Eveline has over 12 years’ experience in clinical oncology study conduct. After receiving her Master’s degree in Biomedical Sciences from the VU University, Amsterdam she started her career in 2005 at Bayer as a Clinical Research Associate (CRA). After two years she moved to GlaxoSmithKline as a senior CRA, where she was predominantly involved in oncology and hematology studies (mostly breast cancer, leukemia, and non-Hodgkin lymphoma). She gained extensive experience in both early phase and phase III studies. Eveline joined SMS-oncology in September 2011 as a Project Manager/ Start-up Specialist and managed many international Phase I-IV trials involving a variety of indications and drug modalities. In February 2015 she took the position of Project Director where she was responsible for project management and leadership on the planning, preparation and execution of clinical projects as well as line management activities. With her drive to improve operational processes at both project and organizational levels, Eveline got promoted to Director Operations in January 2017. She currently heads the Clinical Operations department and is accountable for management of all operational activities, and to develop and implement the operational strategy and excellence performance in collaboration with the management team.

Nadina Grosios PhD MPH
Director Consultancy


Nadina has over 15 years experience in drug development within industry and academia and her career has progressed from basic cancer research across the whole spectrum of translational research to pre- and clinical studies and post-registration activities. Following the completion of her PhD in cancer pharmacology (University of Bradford, UK) and postdoctoral fellowship in molecular aspects of cancer angiogenesis (University of Leeds, UK), she worked for Novartis and AstraZeneca on various drug development projects (lead optimization to Phase III), moving from technical to strategic and leadership roles. She returned to the University of Leeds where she helped set up a multimillion translational research initiative and managed the Leeds Cancer Research UK Centre. In 2012 she returned to industry but this time to a SME (uniQure) where she led a number of early development gene therapy programmes (pre-clinical to Phase I/II) working in niche/ rare indications. Nadina also holds a Master in Public Health (University of Manchester, UK) and a mini MBA (Kauffman Fellows Academy). Since 2009, she is serving as an Expert Reviewer for the European Commission’s Research and Innovation programme (Framework Programme 7 and Horizon 2020) and since 2010 she is a National Representative for the European Association for Predictive, Preventive and Personalised Medicine. In March 2015 she joined SMS-oncology as Director Consultancy.

Stephan Winckels MD PhD
Director Medical Affairs


After his training as an MD, Stephan obtained his PhD in Medical Physiology with a thesis on a cardiovascular topic. From 2008 onwards, he shifted his focus to oncology as a resident in pathology. He actively participated in multidisciplinary team meetings for general oncology and head & neck cancer. In 2009 he started his career in the pharmaceutical industry as a Medical Monitor at Wyeth (now Pfizer), where he was responsible for studies in breast cancer and lymphomas. Later, he took over project management responsibilities for several Phase I-III oncology studies in breast cancer, leukemia, lung cancer and solid tumors when working as Clinical Project Manager Oncology at Boehringer Ingelheim. Before joining SMS-oncology in 2016, he worked as safety physician/medical lead and protocol author at Julius Clinical for studies in various therapeutic areas, including Phase I oncology. Throughout his career in the pharmaceutical and CRO arena, he gained strong experience in clinical oncology drug development and operational insights. At SMS-oncology, Stephan took the position of Director Medical Affairs where he heads the Medical Affairs department and is currently responsible for thorough medical reviews and providing expert advice.

Analyn Animo BSc
Director Data Management


Analyn holds a Bachelor degree in Pharmacy and has passed the Board of Pharmacy licensure examination held in Manila, Philippines. She started her career in 1999 as Clinical Data Associate at Kendle International (now INC Research in Amsterdam) and held several positions within Data Management (including line management). Analyn has over 15 years of progressive data management experience where she focused primarily on early stage trials. Her latest position at INC Research was Senior Manager Data Management where she supervised a group of Project Data Managers, Clinical Data Associates and Clinical Programmers. In this position she ensured that the contracted services and expectations of a clinical study were carried out by the Project team, thereby also functioning as primary liaison with customers, vendors, business development/ proposal group and senior management. Analyn joined SMS-oncology in June 2015 as Director Data Management where she supervises the data management department thereby being responsible for providing management and leadership in the planning, preparation and execution of data management for clinical oncology trials.
